Review by Paul Salfen
his is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Elemental, the new Pixar film that’s sure to be a hearwarmer for the whole family. The story follows Ember and Wade, two young fire and water elements respectively that fall for each other despite the obvious physical clashes but also societal clash, as their families would not approve of the danger they put themselves in. Of course it’s a parallel or metaphor that’s a commentary on society but it has a message that will always need to be told to children about how our differences are not that different at all and we have a lot more in common with others than we often think we do. It’s also worth noting that the voice cast isn’t all household A-list names but they are perfect and the reliance here is on the strong Disney/Pixar brand and you get exactly what you want here. This one is sweet, fun, and has a solid message. But, of course, you’ll want to bring tissues – and even more so for the sweet short before that brings back Carl and his dog in the mini-sequel to Up where our favorite little old man goes on a date after the passing of his wife. Tears will follow. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
