Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is No Hard Feelings, the hard R comedy starring Jennifer Lawrence that sees her hone her comedic skills and still give us that emotional depth we love from her. The story itself is kind of odd, though. She plays a 32 years old that answers a Craigslist ad where she would essentially have to sleep with a nerdy recent high school graduate in exchange for a used car because she’s struggling. It’s meant to be funny but kind of leaves it open to a lot of modern societal questions – including what would people think if it was a 32 year old man and a young girl that just graduated high school, which would probably not go over as well. Despite it being about some troubled and sometimes mean-spirited people, the movie does have its high points and some amazingly funny cringey humor – including a quite shocking fully nude fight scene from Lawrence. It’s very of its time and pretty fun even if a little predictable but a nice throwback to a less sensitive moviegoing time – including a great dad role for Ferris Bueller himself, Matthew Broderick. It’s not perfect but it should be a crowd pleaser. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
