Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Gran Turismo, the unbelievable true story of the video game of the same name whose parent company ran a contest to place a gamer in a real race car – with great and terrible results. It’s a surprisingly touching story, highly entertaining, and very inspirational. Director Neill Blomkamp really brings this underdog story to life and although David Harbour and Orlando Bloom are the names here, Archie Madekwe is the real gem here. Throw in a Spice Girl and Djimon Hounsou and you’ve got a winning combo. The race sequences are intense and it really had the audience cheering, so it’s bound to be a crowd pleaser. Even though critics will probably not all clamour to it, audiences should. While it is filled with sports movie cliches and product placement, its heart is in the right place. Go ahead and get in the passenger seat for this one and enjoy the ride. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
