Interview by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Equalizer 3, the fast-paced sequel in the Antione Fuqua-directed series starring Denzel Washington. Although not screened for critics, which is usually a bad sign, it is highly engaging and entertaining and a worthy sequel perfect for the big screen during summertime. This one takes place in beautiful Southern Italy where Washington’s character is enjoying a peaceful retirement among the locals but since they are plagued by the mafia and people he began to care about are being affected, guess what happens next? Yup – he serves up justice in a violent but somehow satisfying way. It’s very grim and incredibly bloody with no real surprises – I’m sure you can guess how it ends – but since Denzel is one of the best – he elevates the material in a way that only he can by lighting up the screen. Be ready to cheer like you’re seeing a gladiator match – you might feel funny when you think about what you’re cheering for but that’s the escapism of the movies at its purest. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
