Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is A Haunting In Venice, which sees Kenneth Branagh return as Hercule Poirot, the gifted detective that we’ve enjoyed in the Murder On the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, the Agatha Christie books he brought to life with his always solid direction and, of course, he’s been one of the best stage to screen actors we’ve had for years. Here he gets a little spooky where he returns after retirement and fame thanks to the books based on his life thanks to Ariadne Oliver, played here mostly straight-laced by Tina Fey. He gets roped into going to a seance for a girl that committed suicide at a haunted palazzo – or did she? Of course he gets to the bottom of it but it’s a fun romp filled with great actors , including young Jude Hill, the precious boy from Branagh’s brilliant film Belfast. It’s beautifully shot, perfectly set, and filled with great actors – and it’s even mercifully under 2 hours. So if you want a good pre-Halloween snack with some chills and thrills but isn’t too much, this is a fun one for you. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
