This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the latest installment in the dystopian franchise that sees writer-director George Miller returning again for another wild and visually stunning action spectacle. This time we see Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character and Chris Hemsworth as the humorous but evil villain in a wasteland full of brutal warriors in vicious attacks, wild chase scenes, and just plain bonkers stunts. If you’re a fan of the franchise, it will be right in line with your expectations. While a little slower in places and not as fun as Fury Road, this one has more grittiness like the first two films with Mel Gibson but a very modern and up-to-par look and feel. While the characters are all complicated and not always lovable, it’s an interesting journey and now one we expect from Miller, as his vision has always been unique and hard to categorize. It is a good ride, even though it’s not the best one yet. It won’t take Dune’s crown this year but will serve as a good summer popcorn flick. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
