Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Abigail, the ballerina vampire flick that apparently is a reimagining of Dracula’s Daughter. While the first almost half is standard fare kidnapping crooks crime bits, when the vampire side of things kicks in, it gets nuts – and slightly more original despite the wealth of fanged menace flicks before it. This one has a cute but very tricky (and apparently very old) little girl that gets a bunch of random-seeming lowlifes together that think they’re getting a big chunk of money from her dad but surprise surprise it’s all part of a game to her. What follows is some of the bloodiest full body explosions you’ve seen on screen and lots of chaos, nasty teeth, crazy eyes, and bad guys getting picked off one by one. It’s not the most original or most fun horror flick you’ve seen in recent times but it’s a decent enough halfway to Halloween marker. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
