Actresses Arielle Raycene (Bupkis) and Alessandra Williams (Spencer Confidential), through Daisyland Productions, have made waves on the short film circuit with their provocative new project, Growing Daisies. On the heels of Anora’s Oscar win—further solidifying the appeal and importance of indie films that push boundaries—this daring film, known for its striking visuals and thought-provoking narrative, has already garnered major accolades. Growing Daisies has been recognized with Best Short Film and Best Editing at the Berlin Indie Film Festival, as well as the Grand Jury Prize at Indie X Film Festival. Alessandra earned Best Female Director, while Arielle took home Best Actress, and the film was honored as Best Experimental Film. Additionally, Growing Daisies received an Honorable Mention at the New York Independent Film Festival, with more festival appearances lined up for 2025.
The film follows Daisy, a woman gripped by haunting desires and sexual obsession. Audiences are drawn into her tortured psyche, exploring the thin line between fantasy and reality in an intimate, unsettling way.
