Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters now is Bob Marley: One Love the biopic of the reggae legend that finally sees the story told sanctioned by the family members with a great lead performance by Kingsley Ben-Adir. Of course the music is fantastic, the story is interesting, and as expected has a sad ending as Marley tragically died early. The real joy here is knowing that this will help his music and message of peace live on through younger generations. While this may not be an awards winner in the end – early reactions have shown a disparity in critics and audiences, this historically makes sense, as it is art for the people, not the critics. That said, it could have been tighter and more impactful in some ways, but in general, it’s a satisfying story with a great soundtrack and solid performances and that’s the spirit it needed. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
