Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute brought to you by KYO online pharmacy. In theaters this weekend is Brave the Dark, another Angel Studios “pay it forward” film where you can quite literally see it in theaters free due to the generosity of others if needed or you can buy tickets for others if you are so inclined and you already know what you’ll get: a safe, faith-based family-friendly film that will try and bring some light to the dark theater with a story of people struggling but ultimately prevail when they keep the faith when it is tested. And although critics are often tougher on these movies, it gets harder to deny the effort when talent like star Jared Harris and a strong young talent like Nicholas Hamilton are at the forefront and it’s based on a true story so even if somewhat predictable, that’s the way it happened. Jared’s brother, Damian directs and the story follows a teacher that essentially adopts a troubled teen that has been through an abusive ringer via family and the foster system but isn’t a total lost cause even though he may seem like it to everyone else – and even the viewer most times. It’s rough around the edges just like its main young character but will speak to many people even if it’s not their brand of presentation. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
