Hellraiser is Ben’s third collaboration with director David Bruckner, having previously scored The Night House and his debut feature, The Ritual. Known for creating original scores to a diverse range of breakthrough independent films, Ben has scored over 40 feature films and documentaries since the Independent Spirit Award-nominated thriller, The Signal.
His score for Hellraiser is arguably his best yet. He’s the sole composer on the film and 80% of it features his music.
From Motörhead’s cover of Ozzy Osborne’s song Hellraiser and Franz Liszt’s Funerailles to improvisational arias he recorded with the vocal soloist on the score Theodosia Roussos, Ben’s score delivers the fantasy and the magic to Bruckner’s HELLRAISER story.
HELLRAISER SYNOPSIS: A young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.
Lovett’s extensive catalog of film and television credits include original scores to Jim Cummings’ comedies The Wolf of Snow Hollow and The Beta Test; Emma Tammi’s avant-garde western The Wind; the sci-if noir Synchronicity, which earned Lovett a nomination for “Discovery of the Year” at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards; Amy Seimetz’s award-winning debut, Sun Don’t Shine; the Criterion Collection-selected taxidermy documentary Stuffed, directed by Erin Derham; the Duplass Brothers’ survival thriller Black Rock; Christopher Alender’s The Old Ways, which charted at #1 on the Netflix horror chart Worldwide in 2021; Jacob Gentry’s conspiracy thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion; Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim; Blumhouse’s anthology series, Into The Dark; and more.
