MEGAN POTTHOFF (Culinary Producer, Food Stylist) is a graduate of l’École Nationale Supérieure de la Pâtisserie in France, where she mastered classic French techniques. With a diverse portfolio of culinary leadership in high-profile restaurants, including several iconic Wolfgang Puck eateries, Potthoff has excelled in her career as an executive pastry chef.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Potthoff’s passion for food was ignited by her grandmother, with whom she started baking at an early age. Her shift into food styling is a natural progression in her career, through which she combines her knowledge and experience from over 12 years in the restaurant industry with the love of her craft. Her passion for food continues to grow as she works alongside a diverse lineup of esteemed chefs, photographers, showrunners, producers and filmmakers. Potthoff has styled for some of the top reality cooking shows in the business, including “Master Chef” and “Iron Chef,” as well as feature films such as Babylon, in which she uses her culinary skills to portray for the camera those mouth-watering moments audiences love to see.
MOVIE SUMMARY:
Based on a true story, Sitting in Bars with Cake follows a quiet young woman who is unlucky in love and discovers an unlikely guy magnet when she bakes a cake for her best friend’s birthday and brings it to a bar, only to be swarmed by men. She believes it’s a fluke, but her friend convinces her to commit to a year of baking cakes and bringing them to bars, with the goal of finding true love. The shy young woman’s life subsequently opens up in ways she couldn’t have imagined.
