Following the heartfelt resonance of her single “Shooting Star,” indie-pop sensation HAPPIE (aka Happie Hoffman) releases her latest track, “Close,” a song that explores the paradox of physical closeness and emotional distance in relationships. The single has quickly become a fan favorite during her recent tour, with audiences resonating deeply with its poignant message.
“‘Close’ is about being next to someone you love but feeling a thousand miles away,” HAPPIE shares. “I think, unfortunately, a lot of people can relate to feeling distant from someone they love— whether it be a romantic, platonic, or familial relationship. ‘I don’t want to be alone when I’m with you’ is a quote from the song that I think captures the whole storyline.”
This track marks HAPPIE’S first collaboration with co-writer Ori Rakib and Andre Herd, VP of A&R at APG, during an inspiring summer night. “We stayed up until sunrise in New York City writing it after getting caught in the rain in Central Park,” HAPPIE recalls. The experience brought an outpouring of creativity and emotion, culminating in a song that speaks universally to those who have experienced similar feelings of disconnect.
HAPPIE continues to connect with her listeners through stories woven into her music, reflecting her growth as an artist and her journey through life’s chapters. The upcoming EP, expected to drop later this summer, is anticipated to further showcase HAPPIE’S evolving talent and her knack for touching the hearts of her audience with relatable, deeply emotional music.
HAPPIE’s journey in music has been marked by a profound ability to connect deeply with her audience through her compelling narratives and emotive performances. From her start in the indie folk duo Eric & Happie, known for their modern takes on traditional Jewish music and love songs that resonated globally, to her evolution as a solo artist blending organic instrumentation with electro-ambience, HAPPIE’s work has consistently been about forging genuine emotional connections. Her previous EP, ‘Heartbreak Season,’ was a declaration of independence and an exploration of personal and romantic relationships, themes that she continues to delve into with her new work.
