Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this week is McVeigh, the story of Timothy McVeigh, the Army vet behind the Oklahoma City bombing, which was the deadliest domestic terrorist attack in US history. Of course the film is somber and sad and even though it doesn’t show the bombing itself, news footage is shown, which should serve as a warning to those affected. Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen plays McVeigh with Stranger Things Brett Gelman taking the role as his friend and co-conspirator and Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson as a girl that gets very close to him before everything goes down. All three shine in it and it really shows the danger of those that feed into conspiracy theories (in this case: the Waco massacre) and it’s done in a subtle and ominous way that gets its point across, although it’s somehow missing something that keeps it from being the incredibly intense and definitive story we expected given the name. Not all of the details were given including what happened as a result of the tragic incident. It is, however, an interesting character study and a great showcase for Allen. That’s it for this week.
