This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this week is Novocaine, the rowdy new action flick starring Jack Quaid that sees a meek bank manager use his ability not to feel pain as some sort of twisted superpower to save the girl he’s recently fallen in love with at his bank after she is kidnapped during a robbery. Although it’s an action flick and it’s very funny in places, the violence is horror movie level and most of the things that happen to him look so painful and you can hear the audience gasping and moving in their seats with each further bit of what would be tortue to us. Amber Midthunder gets a prime role after Prey and Ray Nicholson (yes, the son of Jack and yes, our hero is Dennis Quaid’s son) gets a more meaty role posr-Smile 2 and Jacob Batalon is now the sidekick here as he did so well in the Spider-Man movies. The directors of Villains and Significant Other keep this thing moving and quite entertaining and fun – especially on the big screen with a full house. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
