Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters this weekend is Oppenheimer, the amazing story of the man who engineered the atomic bomb from director Christopher Nolan and it’s just as epic as you might think. Clocking in at 3 hours and being shown in 35mm and 70mm in a lot of theaters, this important true stories wrestles with a lot of interesting ideas, philosophies, and the innerworkings of brilliant but flawed people. Cillian Murphy plays the namesake perfectly and is backed up by a who’s who of great talent that includes Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Kenneth Branaugh, and Florence Pugh. It’s hard to believe sometimes that history has played out the way it has and the heroes and villains we learned about in school are much more complicated creatures than we could have wrapped our heads around at a young age. To see it fleshed out in a meticulous way really brings the historical events to life and gives us a lot to think about coupled with a great excuse to go to the movies. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
