Interview by Paul Salfen
Clement Anthony Burke was an American musician best known as the drummer for the band Blondie from 1975. He appeared on all of the band’s albums along with two founding members, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. He also played drums for the Ramones for a brief time in 1987 under the name Elvis Ramone, and was a member of the Romantics from 1990 until 2004, and supergroup THE TEARAWAYS, which released digital version of their new record called “And For Our Next Trick.” The band features the dual lead singers of bassist John “Fin” Finseth and rhythm guitarist Greg Brallier, lead guitar David Hekhouse and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame drummer Clem Burke (Blondie). Also, from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Benmont Tench played keyboards and Steven McCarthy (Jayhawks, The Long Ryders) added pedal steel guitar.
This 2023 interview with Clem Burke and John Finseth “Fin” and Paul Salfen is about that recording.
