Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. In theaters now is Expendables 4, the muscley all-star actionfest that brings us back to the ’80s with its over-the-top machismo, bad dialogue, explosions, fights, and grunts. At this point, you know what you’re getting into: this is either your thing or it’s not. It’s not for critics, overly sensitive people, or those looking for a cinematic masterpiece. It’s just big, dumb fun that is for its crowd. Finally ditching the PG-13 shot at growing the franchise, this installment goes back to the blood in a major way – in almost a horror violence kind of way, really. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham headline the fun with Randy Couture, 50 Cent, Megan Fox, and Dolph Lundgren joining in and Iko Uwais from The Raid series shows up to impress as the villain. Throw in Tony Jaa and Andy Garcia and you’ve got a lot of talent in one place with not everyone used to their full potential but it is what it is: the fourth in a series of ups and downs. If you want to turn your mind off and watch things blow up and relive those silly ’80s action matinees, this one is for you. That’s it for this week – join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
