Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute. On Netflix now is Ultraman Rising, the continuation of the story of the beloved Japanese superhero that has been revived by the streaming giant in animation form, where it works really well. While beautifully animated and conceived, the true beauty here is in the message of family, acceptance, and forgiveness. It follows Ken, a superstar baseball player that’s full of himself and set out to get his dad’s attention that he felt he didn’t have as a kid – because his dad was Ultraman, but when when it comes to be his time to play the hero, he must humble himself, learn valuable lessons, and tap into his inner-hero and superstar upbringing to protect the people he loves and the public from the kaiju – except for one adorable baby kaiju, who he must raise and protect. It’s perfect timing for Father’s Day and this is one that dads will love and want to share with their kiddos no matter what age because there’s a theme there that is delicately explained here that many of us cannot. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
