Review by Paul Salfen
This is Paul Salfen with your KLAK Movie Minute brought to you by KYO online pharmacy. In theaters this weekend is what’s sure to be one of the biggest releases of the year: Wicked. The big budget adaptation of the wildly popular musical translated into movie magic. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are perfect as Elphaba and Glinda in John M. Chu’s colorful, brilliant, and wildly entertaining first part of the Oz story that also includes the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Jonathan Bailey that follows the misunderstood green-skinned Elphaba and the popular Glinda at Shiz University in the Land of Oz that takes them to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz before it leaves us waiting for Part 2. The story is timeless, the songs are classic, the message is clear, and it is absolutely worth the trip to the theater whether you’ve seen the play or not. And yes, you’ll likely hear singing and clapping – it’s special. That’s it for this week. Join me next week and every week for another Movie Minute right here on 97.5 KLAK, AMFM Magazine, and RECRD.
